Fitbit has something up its sleeve this year which is a new product named Fitbit Alta HR. This is more of an update to the previous Alta. It is touted to be the world's slimmest wrist-based device, with an updated full-time heart rate sensor.

Slimmest Fitness Wristband

The company has made the watch thinner by reducing the size of the chip and number of components. The smartwatch has been designed to be 25 percent slimmer compared to the Fitbit Charge 2.

Heart Rate Sensor Added

As requested by most of the users of Fitbit Alta, the new Fitbit Alta HR has come up with a continuous, on-the-go heart rate tracking feature coupled with the benefits of PurePulse heart rate technology. It provides all-day heart-tracking, providing the users with all the health-related information.

It is capable of measuring the amount of calories that havebeen burned in the entire day to facilitate the weight goals of a person. One can even get the information about the real-time heart activities and exercise synopsis.

Sleep Better With Automatic Sleep Tracker

Two productive sleep tools have been introduced in the Fitbit Alta HR - Sleep Insights and Sleep Stages. It can track one's sleep and also provide an insight on how to improve the sleep quality.

"Alta HR and these powerful new sleep features demonstrate our continued focus on evolving our innovative technology to deliver deeper, more actionable insights to help our users improve their health," said James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit.

Sleep Stages

The device powered by PurePulse, utilizes the data of accelerometer and records the variable changes in the heart beat during the sleep to estimate the REM or light sleep stages.

To better understand the sleep patterns and quality, the device also records the irregularities in sleep patterns, which can be later discussed with a doctor.

This feature is available in Alta HR, Charge 2 and Blaze devices and can be used via the Fitbit app on Windows, iOS or Android.

Sleep Insights

With this feature, the device uses the Fitbit data and then provides guidance on how to improve the quality of the sleep for better health. This feature is available in all Fitbit devices which also work via the Fitbit app.

A Smartwatch That Keeps You On Track

The device also keeps the user connected with all day automatic tracking. SmartTrack feature enables exercise tracking that records various activities, such as cycling, walking, running and several sports activities.

It notifies the user with the reminders, availability of calls, texts or event the calendar events. Moreover, the smartwatch is powered by the battery life that extends up to seven days.

Fitbit Alta HR: Availability And Pricing

Fitbit Alta HR is already available for presale at a price of $149.95. However, the smartwatch supportive of features such as Sleep Stages and Sleep Insights will be available in spring of 2017.

In addition to the standard model, the smartwatch will also come in a Special Edition variant. It includes the black or gunmetal series of the Alta HR, with a price tag of $179.95.
