Samsung is planning to use 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. In case you were wondering how the larger displays would affect overall size, new renders compare the smartphones with the Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S6.

The latest trend in the smartphone arena is packing larger screens into smaller devices. LG unveiled the LG G6 at Mobile World Congress 2017 and the handset rocks a 5.7-inch display. Samsung will be the next high profile smartphone maker to launch new flagship handsets and the company's devices will tower over LG's, as the Galaxy S8 will feature a 5.8-inch display and the Galaxy S8 Plus will boast a whopping 6.2-inch screen.

Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus To Use Larger Displays In Smaller Body

While most readers would assume that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus would be significantly larger than the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, which use 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch displays, renders of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have been published by a credible source and compared the size difference with previous flagship Galaxy smartphones.

Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Renders Compared With Previous Galaxy Smartphones

OnLeaks posted the above image on Twitter, which sizes up the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 7, and Galaxy S8 Plus. The renders also provide the dimensions of each device, with the Galaxy S6 measuring 143.4 x 70.5 mm and using a 5.1-inch display, the Galaxy S7 measuring 142.4 x 69.6 mm with a 5.1-inch screen, the Galaxy S8 measuring 148.90 x 68 mm and boasting a 5.8-inch display, the Galaxy Note 7 coming in at 153.5 x 73.9 mm and using a 5.7-inch display, and finally the Galaxy S8 Plus measuring 159 x 74 mm and featuring a 6.2-inch screen.

Samsung has impressively packed in significantly larger displays into the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, but because the company removed most of the bezel space on the top and bottom of the new Infinity Displays, the devices are able to have a much smaller overall footprint compared to previous handsets with smaller screens.

Samsung Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Launch On March 29

A UK retailer has already begun accepting preorders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and as its prices reveal, those new and larger Infinity Displays will come at a significantly higher price compared to the starting cost of last year's Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

We'll keep you posted on any additional Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus details as they become available.
