Google has proven that it is one of the most reliable technology companies offering innovative solutions for individuals and businesses, with its array of products and services that meet user demands.

Unlike other companies that employ aggressive marketing strategies to push their products, Google focuses on improving its system and expanding its range for the benefit of users. The company is now offering practical solutions for enterprises through the Google Cloud Platform.

Google recently acquired Kaggle to leverage the knowledge of its machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence experts for better business solutions. The company has also acquired AppBridge for similar reasons, but it doesn't stop there.

Google has announced a host of new features of Google Drive that would greatly benefit enterprises that wish to migrate to Google Cloud.

"These days, we're focused on ensuring Drive addresses the unique needs of our enterprise customers, like compliance, data security, and file ownership when teams change," writes Prabhakar Raghavan, vice president of apps for Google Cloud.

Google Drive For Enterprises

Alex Vogenthaler, group product manager for Google Drive, says that there are more complex issues facing enterprises and that is what his team worked hard to solve.

"[As] larger companies move to the cloud, there's more to think about - like the risk of data breaches, bumpy migrations, and compatibility with legacy tools," Vogenthaler shares.

Google's recent strategic acquisitions ensure that all bases are covered and that teams will be able to use Google Drive as smoothly as individuals use the service. Now enterprises can create, work, and share files using team drives, giving companies better control of its teams and files. Admins can better manage who can access which files, and there is no cause for concern if a team member leaves or is removed because any file added to the team drive stays there.

Google made Team Drive available to its G Suite Business, Education, and Enterprise customers on March 9.

More Advanced Features

The company also updated Google Vault for Drive, allowing admins to have more control over files in accordance with legal hold policies. This ensures that important files will be retained in the cloud and unnecessary files — for instance, brainstorm presentations — will be deleted without having to micromanage the account.

As mentioned earlier, Google acquired companies that will enable it to make its products more powerful. This is true with the AppBridge acquisition, which is now part of the G Suite and will enable companies to migrate huge amounts of data from their existing cloud-based or hybrid storage to Google Drive.

Once all the files have been migrated, teams can make use of Drive File Stream to effortlessly sync files between a user's laptop and the team or enterprise drive.

Drive also offers Quick Access for iOS and Android devices, and this enables individuals to pull up files based on machine learning. That is, users will be able to quickly access files shared to them when certain conditions — such as how often a file is shared with them, which files were used in the recently concluded meeting, or which files are consistently open at specific times of the day — are met.

Quick Access is still limited to Android and iOS, but Google says it will be available as a web version soon.
