It's been six weeks since the Android 7.1.2 Nougat beta was released by Google to a few Pixel and Nexus handsets, and according to reports, the company will supposedly push out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat publicly soon.

The news will be welcomed by Android users as Google will reportedly push out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update to select Pixel and Nexus devices first.

According to a report from WCCFTech, Google will begin the rollout in the coming weeks.

"The company is expected to start the public update rollout at the end of this month or at the beginning of April," notes the report.

With the release of Android 7.1.2 Nougat beta version, Google mentioned that this is an additional update which will focus on fixing bugs and improving performance. It will also enhance carrier-related issues.

The latest news affirms assertions made by the VP of Android, Dave Burke, in a blog post in January where he mentioned that the public release of Android 7.1.2 would take a "couple of months."

Rogers Reason Behind The Rumor?

The news of Google rolling out the Android 7.1.2 update in the coming weeks has come to the spotlight after an update was declared by Canadian carrier Rogers for its Pixel devices. The new update includes support for VoLTE, as well as Google's March security patch.

Rogers has been involved in the testing process of VoLTE for a few months for Pixel smartphones along with Android 7.1.2 beta. It now seems that the Canadian carrier is bringing the update to Google Pixel users on April 3.

Although the announcement from Rogers does not provide any confirmation about Google's intention to launch the Android 7.1.2 Nougat during the same time, it looks like the latter will probably push out the software update in early April when it issues OTA and factory pictures along with security bulletins.

Nexus 6 And Nexus 9 Missing Out

According to a confirmation from Google in February, the Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet will not get updated to Android 7.1.2 Nougat. However, both Nexus 6 and HTC-made Nexus 9 will still be able to receive any security updates.

After Nougat, Google is dodging the process of releasing preview builds which it used during beta releases. Now it is going to final builds straightaway.

If you don't own a Nexus or Pixel smartphone, then you may have to wait a tad longer, as Google is probably going to take more time to expand the new update to all supported devices. Considering the beta program was rolled out for the Nexus Player, Pixel, Nexus 5X, Pixel XL, and Pixel C, they could be the first in line for the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update.
