Bayonetta, originally released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and then again in 2014 for the Nintendo Wii U, has finally been ported to the PC after years of fan demand.

The arrival of the PC version for Bayonetta was actually hinted with the release of the adorable 8-Bit Bayonetta on Steam. The game contained a hint for an announcement coming April 11, with speculations hoping that Bayonetta will finally be released for the PC.

'Bayonetta' For PC Released On Steam

Bayonetta for PC is now available to be downloaded exclusively through Steam, with a price tag of $19.99.

The PC version of Bayonetta features several graphics upgrades, with the game capable of supporting up to 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 60 frames per second. The title also supports many of Steam's features, including Steam achievements, Steam cloud saves, leaderboards, trading cards, and Big Picture Mode.

As an added bonus, players who purchase the game before April 25 will receive the more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition at no extra cost, which contains a five-song sampler of the Bayonetta soundtrack and a digital art book that contains exclusive avatars and wallpapers.

Who Is Bayonetta?

Bayonetta, a creation of legendary director Hideki Kamiya, who was also behind Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry, is the last survivor of an ancient clan known as the Umbra Witches who helped preserve the balance between darkness and light in the world. She was entombed to protect the world but revived 500 years later and thrust in battle against angelic hordes.

The first game in the series is a fast-paced over-the-top hack-and-slash title, which will have players utilize Bayonetta's massive arsenal of weapons and magic that include shapeshifting hair and gun heels. Bayonetta quickly gained a cult following, but it did not sell well enough for publisher Sega to shell out the needed funds for its sequel. Nintendo then stepped in to invest in Bayonetta 2, which was released only for the Wii U in 2014.

More Titles By Platinum Games Coming To PC?

"The PC market is huge and can definitely not be ignored. We are absolutely aware of that, and we've always felt this way," said a Platinum Games spokesperson, adding that while the Bayonetta developer is interested in porting its titles to the PC, the decision on which games to port and on what platforms its titles will be released for are mostly in the hands of publishers.

The spokesperson then noted that third-party publishers have grown increasingly aware of the significance of the PC as a video game platform, which means that Platinum Games will be more involved with the PC market going forward.

Platinum Games, if the decision was up to it alone, would port all its games to the PC. If Bayonetta draws massive success in its release for the PC, perhaps more titles of the developer would be ported to the PC, such as Vanquish and Anarchy Reigns.

It would seem that Sega is not stopping at bringing Bayonetta to the PC, though.

"Bayonetta is one of the most often requested PC conversions of our games, so finally being able to launch it on Steam is fantastic. There's more to come!" said Sega Europe senior VP of commercial publishing John Clark.
