Android Nougat's first anniversary is coming up on Aug. 22 and with the new Android OS — allegedly dubbed Android Oreo — expected to be unveiled at Google's I/O 2017 developer's conference, several older smartphones are receiving the Android N update

The latest to join the club is the T-Mobile variant of Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. On Friday, April 28, a T-Mobile official confirmed that the network operator would roll out the software update to the Samsung handset "early next week."

Android N Update For Galaxy S6 edge+

T-Mobile is on a spree to roll out the Android Nougat update for the eligible devices it offers. On, April 24, the carrier rolled out the latest software update for its variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Come next week, T-Mobile will make the Android Nougat update available for the Galaxy S6 edge+, which released in 2015. T-Mobile's product manager Des, took to Twitter to share the news.

Des did not mention any specific date that would clarify what the carrier means by "early." However, given that T-Mobile rolled out the same update for Galaxy Note 5 at the start of the week, Galaxy S6 edge+ user on the carrier can expect to receive an alert starting Monday, May 1, itself.

Any Other Samsung Devices To Benefit From Android Nougat Soon?

The T-Mobile official answered queries from existing subscribers and affirmed that it was working toward releasing the software update for the Samsung Galaxy S6. The network operator also shared that the Android Wear 2.0 update for the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch was in the pipeline.

Android N: Features To Look Out For

Once the Galaxy S6 edge+ is upgraded to Android Nougat, users will be able to enjoy several exciting features, including multi-language support. For the unfamiliar, Android Nougat comes with multiple local language settings and offers over 1500 emojis — including the 72 new emojis promoting gender equality. Post the update, users would be able to use more than one language at the same time.

The update also brings multi-window view and quick switch between apps support, which allows users to toggle between two applications and run both simultaneously. Apart from these, the "Doze on the Go" mode helps one preserve the device's battery when the handset is not in use.

With the new customized quick settings of Android Nougat, Galaxy S6 edge+ users would also be able to shuffle the tiles and replace unnecessary settings with commonly-used ones.

The Notification direct reply of Android N is also a handy feature and relieves one from the hassle of opening the app each time a message comes. The smartphone user can instead directly reply from the Notification alert without going into the app.
