The Samsung Galaxy S8 active is about to land on AT&T's shelves, as it just received its Wi-Fi certification.

Needless to say, this is the rugged version of the smartphone, just like the case with the Galaxy S7 and its active counterpart.

Wi-Fi Alliance Clears Galaxy S8 Active

Before this development unfolded, reliable leakster Roland Quandt discovered that the Galaxy S8 active sports the model number SM-G892A via User Agent String and one of Netflix's support pages, which has already been updated to erase any trace of the ID.

Rewinding a bit further, SamMobile got ahold of info that said the handset is internally called "Cruiser" and that it's heading to AT&T. More than that, it found out the device's model number of SM-G892A, which Quandt's findings corroborate.

Now the listing (PDF download) over at Wi-Fi Alliance reads SM-G892A, in line with previous reports.

To no one's surprise, details of the Galaxy S8 active's specs and starting price point are currently scarce at best.

On that note, some of the questions surrounding it include whether it'll be fitted with a flat or curved screen like the standard variant, and whether it'll have physical buttons on the front like the Galaxy S7 active since Samsung did away with the Home button in its latest flagship.

Of course, it's safe to say it'll feature MIL-STD-810G and IP68 certifications like its predecessors.

However, before anyone makes too much out of the news, it should be cleared up that this is far from a foretelling of a release date. Still, it's a sign that the Galaxy S8 active is inching closer to an official launch, though.

Other Samsung Phones At AT&T: Galaxy J3 (2017)

Recently, AT&T put the Galaxy J3 (2017) up for grabs, and only a few people likely heard about it. That's because the carrier didn't announce its release, much less any fanfare.

Priced at $179.99 or $6 a month with a plan, the handset is aimed at the budget conscious who doesn't really want to fork over a ton of moola for the Galaxy S8.

This goes without saying, but there's a huge gap between the Galaxy J3 and Samsung's current flagship in terms of specs.

For what it's worth, it has a 5-inch HD display with a 720 x 1,280 resolution, a quad-core Exynos 7570 chip, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage that's expandable up to 256 GB with a microSD card, and a 2,600 mAh battery pack.

Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, and it's equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel snapper on the front.

To sum things up, AT&T is pushing out plenty of Samsung phones, with the Galaxy S8 active as one of the most anticipated devices.
