The much rumored Google Pixel XL 2 has just surfaced on GFXBench, revealing its core specifications to confirm it will be a powerful flagship.

Google started releasing two flagship smartphones at once in recent years and in 2016 it moved from the Nexus branding to the Pixel one, launching the Pixel and Pixel XL.

The company is expected to stick to the Pixel branding from now on and the purported Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are already making waves ahead of their expected debut later this year. Rumors also hinted at a Pixel 2 XXL, which would be the largest of the bunch. A slew of leaks and reports hint at powerful specifications for the upcoming flagships and a new GFXBench listing now reveals what the larger flagship will bring to the table.

Google Pixel XL 2 Specs On GFXBench

German publication WinFuture spotted the Pixel XL 2 on the GFXBench database, listed with a number of core specifications. According to the benchmark listing, the Pixel XL 2 will sport a 5.6-inch display with an odd resolution of 2,560 x 1,312 pixels, which could translate to an 18:9 aspect ratio like the LG G6. If it's tall and slim, it could resemble the Samsung Galaxy S8, which has an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The listing further reveals that the Google Pixel XL 2 will pack the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood, gunning at 2.4 GHz and paired with 4 GB of RAM and Adreno 540 graphics. The smartphone will apparently come with 128 GB of native storage space. Other specs include a 12-megapixel main camera and a 7-megapixel selfie cam, both with 4K video recording capabilities.

Benchmarks Accuracy

It is worth pointing out here that benchmarks can offer valuable hints about what's in the mix, but they may not always turn out to be spot on. In some cases, benchmarks list the specifications of the prototypes they're testing, which may or may not coincide with the final product.

For instance, although the benchmark listing for the Pixel XL 2 mentions the Snapdragon 835 processor, it wouldn't be too surprising to see the smartphone boast the upcoming Snapdragon 836 chipset. The processor has already been rumored to fire up the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 expected later this year, and possibly the upcoming LG V30.

On the other hand, it's also possible that the Snapdragon 836 will be exclusive to the Galaxy Note 8 for a while, which would leave the Pixel XL 2 with the Snapdragon 835.

The Google Pixel 2 family of smartphones will serve as launch vehicles for the new Android 8.0 O (likely Oreo), so Google will likely go all in with the hardware specs as well. The Pixel XL 2 should go head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, and other powerful flagships of comparable size.

With no official news available at this point, however, it's highly recommended to take all rumors and leaks, including this benchmark listing, with a hefty grain of salt. As always, we'll make sure to keep you in the loop as soon as more information becomes available.
