Blizzard will launch the Rise of the Necromancer pack for Diablo III on June 27, which will mark the return to the series of one of the most popular classes in Diablo II.

However, the return of the Necromancer, which was announced in November at BlizzCon 2016, is not the only thing that Diablo III players should look forward to. On the same day, Blizzard will push out patch version 2.6.0.

The Necromancer Returns To 'Diablo'

Blizzard will release the Rise of the Necromancer pack for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 27. The DLC, which will cost $15, also comes with a few other perks in addition to unlocking the iconic Diablo II class.

At first, players were concerned that the Necromancer will be too similar to the Witch Doctor of Diablo III, but the distinction has since been clarified. The beta test for the Necromancer further provided a glimpse of what the character class can do in the game.

On top of gaining access to the Necromancer for the campaign mode and adventure mode, Diablo III players who purchase the DLC will receive a half-formed Golem as a pet that can be used in the game, along with the cosmetic item Wings of the Crypt Guardian. Players will also be receiving several Necromancer-related items, including a new portrait, sigil, and banner, plus two more character slots. PC players will also receive two extra stash tabs, and it is unclear why this bonus will not be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.

Console players who have not yet purchased the game but are interested in diving in can pick up the new Diablo III: Eternal Collection. The new bundle combines the Rise of the Necromancer pack with the Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, which includes the base game and the Reaper of Souls expansion. The regular price of the Diablo III: Eternal Collection is $60, but it will be sold for only $40 for a limited time.

Diablo III Patch 2.6.0

Also rolling out on June 27 is Diablo III's patch 2.6.0, which will introduce new things to the game even for players who decide not to buy the Rise of the Necromancer pack.

Blizzard will add a new game mode named Challenge Rifts, which will replace the normal randomization in Diablo III with a predetermined experience. Diablo III will take snapshots of a Greater Rift run, including its layout with the gear and skills of the character, and then tasks other players to finish it faster than the original player. Players who beat the time will earn bonus crafting materials.

Patch 2.6.0 will also add two new locations, namely the Shrouded Moors and the Temple of the Firstborn, each with their own design and new enemies. The update will also introduce the Realms of Fate, which is a collection of new areas that can only be reached from Heaven in Act IV.

The patch will be rolled out for free on June 27. Players only need to have the Reaper of Souls expansion installed to get it.
