The Pokémon Company announced a new Pokémon form that will be arriving in the upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which will launch on the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 17, are upgraded versions of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, which were originally released for the Nintendo 3DS last year.

Dusk Form Lycanroc Revealed For 'Pokémon Ultra Sun' And 'Ultra Moon'

In an official announcement, The Pokémon Company revealed the Dusk form as the new form that players can expect in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

The first Pokémon shown in its Dusk Form is Lycanroc, and in the preview unveiled by The Pokémon Company, it can be seen that the Dusk Form Lycanroc has a body and eyes that are different in color from its Midday Form and Midnight Form.

The Pokémon Company noted that players will not be able to acquire the Dusk Form Lycanroc through ordinary methods, such as by catching it in the wild. There were no clues given on how it can be captured.

Lycanroc evolves from Rockruff, and getting the Midday Form or Midnight Form depends on the time of the day that Rockruff is evolved. Following such a scenario, it can be assumed that Dusk Form Lycanroc can only be obtained by evolving Rockruff under certain conditions, though it remains unclear what these conditions are.

Will There Be A Dawn Form In 'Pokémon Ultra Sun' And 'Ultra Moon'?

Given the presence of the Midday Form and Midnight Form in Pokémon Sun and Ultra Moon, there is a definite possibility that there will be a fourth form in addition to Dusk Form in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Following the naming convention, it will likely be named Dawn Form to complete the pairs.

However, Dawn Form has not been officially announced as well as most of the details of the upcoming games. All we know so far about Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is that it will bring players back to Alola, first featured in Pokémon Sun and Ultra Moon, but with an alternate story and new Pokémon that were not present in the first visit of players to the tropical region.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, however, could be considered as a disappointment. Instead of unveiling the new Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo instead announced the two titles at Nintendo Direct last month. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will likely turn out to be excellent additions to the franchise, but they look more like expansions packs instead of true sequels.
