The Assassin's Creed series has always had a touch of realism to it, providing not only entertaining and thrilling gameplay but also an educational experience.

Now Ubisoft wants to take the educational part up a notch with the new Discovery Tour mode coming to Assassin's Creed: Origins.

Explore Ancient Egypt Minus The Stabbings

Basically, Discovery Tour will let Assassin's Creed: Origins players roam around at their own pace without the worry of any danger from Templars or any plot that'll interrupt their experience, while also receiving history lessons courtesy of bona fide experts on Egypt.

"A dedicated mode separate from the main game, Discovery Tour features dozens of guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists. Each focuses on a different subject, including the Great Pyramids, the life of Cleopatra, mummification, and more," Ubisoft says.

Action-Packed Education

Despite some liberal takes on history, such as the events in the Assassin's Creed: Syndicate DLC Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy, the educational value of the Assassin's Creed games shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering that Ubisoft has always employed the talents of historians and conducted intensive research on the settings that each game takes place in.

That said, it was arguably just a matter of time before the developers implemented something like the Discovery Tour.

"This is something we've wanted to do for a long time, that we've been asked to do by teachers, by institutions. Discovery Tour is another way to enjoy the beauty of the world we've recreated. It's a more educative mode, so it's clearly focused on education and on bringing to people actual facts, more academic knowledge," Jean Guesdon, creative director for Assassin's Creed: Origins, says.

What Else To Expect From 'Assassin's Creed: Origins'

As the name suggests, Assassin's Creed: Origins will tell the story of how the Assassin Brotherhood began, featuring the protagonist Bayek, who was revealed ahead of scheduled by way of a T-shirt.

Aside from that, the upcoming game is expected to have a better combat system. In contrast with previous Assassin's Creed titles that focused primarily on movement and parkour, battles will no longer feel repetitive this time around because of improvements and emphasis on blocking, dodging, and attacking.

With all said and done, the new Discovery Tour mode is scheduled to launch sometime in early 2018 as a free update for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. As a quick refresher, Assassin's Creed: Origins is set to roll out on Oct. 27 to the aforementioned platforms.
