Google is expected to unveil two new devices this October, namely the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, but there might be a third one, according to a new rumor.

Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have practically been leaked down to their specs, so this third alleged device, apparently called "Ultra pixel" comes as quite a shock.

This implies that Google will release three new Pixel handsets, mirroring what Apple did in September when it unveiled the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X.

Google Ultra Pixel 'Leaked'

Arun Maini, via his Mrwhosetheboss YouTube channel, apparently received several images from an anonymous source that indicate Google is set to unveil the aforementioned phone. From the looks of it, the source allegedly had captured the images from a slide presentation being developed inside Google.

One image reveals the branding — "Ultra pixel," with the p intentionally lowercase — alongside a render of the device, which seems to have thin bezels. There's another image captioned with "The future of Android is Fluid." Finally, one image shows what appears to be a multitasking function on the bottom of the user interface.

But hold on. It's entirely possible that this "leak" was fabricated, meaning it's nothing more than a fan render disguised as a leak. Android Police speculates that it's probably fake, saying the images look suspiciously convenient in terms of the angle of the shot.

What's With The Name?

Also, why is the "p" in lowercase? It would make more sense if Google named it with an uppercase "P" especially now that Pixel has evolved into its official phone branding. Naming it in lowercase seems suspicious and not indicative of the company's attention to detail.

Google Ultra Pixel Rumored Specs

In terms of specs, the Ultra pixel allegedly has dual cameras and — surprise, surprise — an in-display fingerprint reader. Granted, this is just speculation on Maini's part and given that Qualcomm announced previously that fingerprint scanners under the display would become a thing in summer 2018, but if true, this means Google has solved what Samsung and Apple has been trying and failing to solve for the longest time.

More interesting is this new thing apparently called "Fluid," which sounds like a system of gesture controls for Android. The iPhone X, by contrast, has no home button, so it has to rely on certain gestures to bring up the home screen, multitasking switcher, and others. Fluid is seemingly Android's version of that.

All rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, of course, but this one seems like it deserves several teaspoons, if for the rampant speculation that it might indeed be just outright fabrications by someone who has too much time on their hands.
