Samsung is planning to roll out three Galaxy S9 models next year, with one of them being the long-rumored Mini version of its flagship smartphone.

There is no definite proof yet that the Galaxy S9 Mini is really happening, but it appears that Samsung fans will not have to wait long before they find out if the claims are true.

Samsung To Launch Three Galaxy S9 Models, Including The Galaxy S9 Mini

Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple is planning to release three iPhone models next year. Two models will feature the OLED screen of the iPhone X, and the third will retain the bezel-less design but with an LCD screen to make it cheaper.

It is interesting that a new rumor claims that Samsung is also planning the same thing.

According to Ice Universe, a reliable source of information who has previously leaked correct information about Samsung devices, there will be three Galaxy S9 models next year, debunking stories that there will only be two Galaxy S9 models. In addition to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, the leaker claims that Samsung is also working on a Galaxy S9 Mini.

Like the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, the Galaxy S9 Mini is expected to come with the Infinity Display feature, with the screen curving around the edges of the smartphone. However, true to its name, the third model is said to have a display that will measure under 5 inches, compared to the expected 5.8-inch screen of the Galaxy S9 and 6.2-inch screen of the Galaxy S9+.

There have been previous rumors on Mini versions for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8, but those devices never materialized. If rumors on the Galaxy S9 Mini are true, though, we will find out about the smartphone sooner than expected.

Galaxy S9 Announcement As Early As February 2018

Another reliable tipster for Samsung devices, an Italian who goes by the name Ricciolo, claimed that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S9 smartphones as soon as February 2018, just before the launch of the annual Mobile World Congress.

Ice Universe corroborated with the rumor by adding that Samsung will start mass production of the Galaxy S9 devices as early as next month.

Samsung traditionally announced its Galaxy S line before the Mobile World Congress, but because of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco last year, it delayed the Galaxy S8 announcement this year to April. It appears that Samsung will now go back to when it usually announces the flagship devices.

The decision works for Samsung, as it would allow the Galaxy S9 smartphones to enter the market much earlier to face off against Apple's iPhone X.
