Residents of an Irish village, where the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra has been produced over the past two decades, claim that "love fumes" from the drug's factory are having arousing effects on men and dogs.

Erectile Dysfunction Drug To Become Available As Over-The-Counter Medication In UK

Viagra (generic name sildenafil) is used to treat impotence. Among the known side effects of using the medication include rash, abnormal vision, increased risk for urinary tract infections and diarrhea. It is also associated with fainting, increased heart rate, and low blood pressure.

A type of Viagra will become available without prescription in the United Kingdom. Health experts said that this could help reduce the number of people who buy the counterfeit version of the drug, which can pose risks to consumers.

Those who are not able to get a prescription for the drug may turn to the internet or sex shops but illegitimate internet pharmacies may sell tablets that have too much or not enough of Viagra's active ingredient. There are also reports of fake tablets that contain blue printer ink so these would look like the genuine drugs.

"Erectile dysfunction can be a debilitating condition, so it's important men feel they have fast access to quality and legitimate care and do not feel they need to turn to counterfeit online supplies which could have potentially serious side-effects," said Mick Foy, group manager of Britain's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

No Need To Buy Impotence Drug: Villagers Experience Arousing Effects Of Viagra For Free

While some men have to go to extreme measures to purchase the drug, folks at the village of Ringaskiddy in County Cork, who live close to the plant that manufactures Viagra, experience the effects of the drug for free and without the need to seek a prescription.

The locals were amused at the news that the drug will become available over the counter in the United Kingdom because they do not have to pay a cent to get its effects. Some even claim that the village experienced a baby boom after production of Viagra started at the local factory in the late 1990s.

Viagra In The Air

Pfizer, which produces the drug, however, said that the tale of "Viagra in the air" is just a myth. A company spokesperson cited the firm's high standards when it comes to manufacturing processes.

"Our manufacturing processes have always been highly sophisticated as well as highly regulated," the spokesperson said.
