Bungie might be getting very little right with Destiny 2, but at the very least, the developer knows how to quickly apologize. Fixing the problems themselves, however, is another story.

Bungie's latest apology for Destiny 2 comes after the rollout of Curse of Osiris, which locked out players who did not purchase the expansion from certain endgame content.

'Destiny 2' Players Locked Out Of Endgame Content

Curse of Osiris, the first expansion for Destiny 2, added missions and maps to the futuristic shooter. Unfortunately, it also added a paywall that locked out players who did not buy the DLC from some endgame content.

Destiny 2 players used to play Nightfall strikes on the Prestige difficulty if they were on the game's maximum power level, which was at 300. However, when Curse of Osiris was released, the cap was increased to 330 alongside the required power for Prestige Nightfall strikes.

Only players who purchased the Curse of Osiris DLC were able to increase their power levels to 330, which meant that players who did not buy the expansion were blocked from accessing endgame content that they can previously access.

Other content that were locked for Destiny 2 players without the Curse of Osiris DLC include the Prestige Leviathan raid, Heroic strikes, and the platinum trophy named The Prestige.

Bungie Apologizes For Curse Of Osiris Paywall

After the massive backlash, Bungie has now issued an apology for the lockout through an official blog post.

"With Curse of Osiris now live, it's clear that we've made some mistakes with how we have handled content access," the Destiny 2 development team wrote to start off the blog post.

Bungie explained that it increased the power level needed to participate in Prestige activities because it would keep the content relevant as more expansions are released. This was meant to address the popular Destiny complaint that Bungie did not give enough reasons for players to return to earlier raids such as the Vault of Glass.

To address player concerns, Bungie detailed the changes that it will make. The studio will bring back the required power level of the Prestige Leviathan raid down to 300. The Prestige Nightfall strike, however, will remain at the 330 power cap, which means that access to it will require the Curse of Osiris DLC. Trials of the Nine, meanwhile, will only require players to own Curse of Osiris if the mode features a map from the expansion.

Players are understandably still unhappy with the changes. Bungie said that it was thinking about adding a third difficulty level to Prestige activities, and a significant number of Destiny 2 players thought that the idea would have been a simpler and easier fix for the issue at hand.
