Bandai Namco Entertainment treats role-playing game aficionados with a new footage for Ni No Kuni II: Revenant. The video showcases some of the game's boss encounters

The game is developed by Level-5, a game studio known for games like Inazuma Eleven, Professor Layton, Yo-Kai Watch, Rogue Galaxy, and more. The sequel is their first game the PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, its second title for the Sony console is Inazuma Eleven Ares, which is due to launch sometime in 2018.

Release Date Delayed Again

Gamers first caught a glimpse of the game back in 2015 during the PlayStation Experience event. Earlier this year, during Sony's E3 2017 press conference, it was announced that the game was set for a November launch this year.

However, due to some undisclosed reasons, its release date was moved to January 2018. Just recently, updated information from sources confirmed that its now dated March 23, 2018.

Boss Encounters In Detail

Previously released information about Ni No Kuni II noted the changes made to the combat system. The first game relied on a turn-based battle system common among Japanese RPGs. The sequel now offers a real-time mechanic that seems reminiscent of Bandai Namco's Tales series' combat system.

Additionally, the gameplay footage shows three of the game's characters as they battle smaller enemies and eventually a boss.

It seems that players can switch between the different protagonists at any time. The video starts off with an encounter that takes place in a forest area. During the second half, the battle switches to what looks like a cavern and a boss enemy called Jelly Queen.

The boss attacks with swipes of her tentacles and also fires a red beam on some occasions. Players can maneuver their characters to avoid getting hit by these attacks.

The Same Formula For Success

Level-5's sequel does not seem to change much from Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Most critics liken the game's art style and animation to that of a Studio Ghibli movie. The original game reportedly garnered praises from different publications when it launched back in 2013.

It looks like the upcoming game will follow the same formula that made its predecessor a success. Save for the change with its combat system, Level-5 does not look like it plans to make any further tweaks to the formula.

After all, the latest video clip of its combat system and boss encounter continue to show the same level of quality as the original. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will become available for the PlayStation 4 and PC on March 23, 2018.
