Developers took advantage of a number of gaming conventions this year to preview their upcoming games for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Switch in 2018.

Gamers focus their attention on Nintendo as the developer continues to deliver its promise. Executives of the gaming company previously acknowledged that the Wii U's failure was due to the lack of third-party support. So far, their latest gaming system has already been showered with a generous mix of first-party and third-party software since it was launched in March.

Consoles And Their Popularity

Sony currently enjoys its position at the top with the most consoles sold this year with their PlayStation 4. On the flipside, Microsoft continues to struggle even with the recent release of the Xbox One X. Meanwhile, Nintendo appears to be on the right track to eventually catch up to the PS4.

The following titles are some of the best games that 2018 will allegedly offer for gamers.

Sony PlayStation 4

The last time the Monster Hunter franchise graced a Sony console was on the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2. Monster Hunter World is set to give the series its first current-gen port with updated visuals and more.

The game is scheduled to release on Jan. 26, 2018, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

A remake of a PlayStation 2 classic is also on its way this 2018. It should be noted that Shadow of the Colossus was previously remastered with enhanced graphics for the PlayStation 3.

However, the current-gen version looks like it was completely remade from the ground up. Gamers can finally battle the huge enemies featured in the title on Feb. 6, 2018

Hideo Kojima recently released a brand new trailer for its mysterious new game that left viewers with even more questions. Nevertheless, the events that take place in the new footage reportedly left fans wanting more.

Information about Death Stranding's release date has not yet been shared by the studio.

Other PS4 exclusives that are slated for a 2018 release are Days Gone, The Last of Us Part 2, God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit: Become Human, Concrete Genie, and Ghost of Tsushima.

Microsoft Xbox One

State of Decay 2 looks like Microsoft's jab at Sony-exclusive Days Gone. The game showcases hordes of zombies in an open-world survival-horror genre gameplay. Undead Labs, the game's publisher, confirmed that it will offer co-op gameplay just as fans requested.

The game is set to launch sometime in 2018.

In Seas of Thieves, gamers control a crew of pirates as they sail the open seas, battle other crews, scavenge sunken vessels, and loot treasure from islands. It offers an open-world seafaring gameplay where gamers can customize their stories. These campaigns can be shared with other players online.

The title is developed by RARE with a 2018 release date.

Unfortunately, most of the incoming games for Microsoft's console are not exclusive to their system. Journalists have reportedly criticized the company for their lack of first-party games.

Nintendo Switch

Grasshopper Manufacture brings back Travis Touchdown in No More Heros: Travis Strikes Again. The publisher confirms that the sequel will be a Switch exclusive. Events in the game apparently take place seven years after No More Heroes 2.

The story starts with Bad Man and Travis as they suddenly transported and trapped inside a canceled video game console called Death Drive MK-II.

A retro-style RPG from Square Enix and Acquire called Project Octopath Traveler is headed to the hybrid console in 2018. The game flaunts 8 characters whose stories interweave into the story. True to its classic style, the role-playing game features a turn-based combat.

A demo is currently available for download on the Nintendo eShop.

Another first-party game is coming to the Switch next year. Kirby Stars Allies features the familiar gameplay from the long-running series. Other than Kirby's usual skills that allow him to inhale and absorb his enemy's skills, he can now throw stars at the various enemies with a unique effect. Enemies hit by the projectile immediately become allies.

Other upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusives include an untitled Yoshi game, Metroid Prime 4, a new Pokemon game, and a yet untitled Fire Emblem installment. These games are reportedly slated to launch sometime in 2018.
