The 2018 Olympic Winter Games kicks off on Feb. 9-25 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. To celebrate this year's Olympic Winter Games, Samsung is releasing a limited edition of its Galaxy Note 8.

The company will distribute the Galaxy Note 8 among athletes and staff members ahead of the Olympic Games in February.

Samsung's New Note 8 Is Inspired By The 2018 Winter Olympics

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games Edition sports a shiny white back glass to give the device the winter look and feel, along with adding the iconic Olympics torch.

As far as specs, the 2018 Olympic Games Edition includes all of the original features of the Galaxy Note 8, such as a 6.3 inch AMOLED Infinity Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Note 8 is packed with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 64GB of storage, with additional microSD support, 6GB of RAM, and a small 3000mAh battery.

The 2018 Olympic Games Limited Edition will feature pre-installed applications and themed wallpapers around the Olympic Games experience. In addition, all athletes will get cases that sport the 2018 Olympic Games logo to match their new Galaxy Note 8.

Athletes Get To Capture The Best Moments Of The Winter Games

The Galaxy Note 8 is the first phone by Samsung featuring a dual-camera setup. The front-facing camera comes in at 8-megapixels while the rear-facing camera is 12-megapixels.

Samsung's hoping athletes snap high-quality photos, along with recording moments from the 2018 Olympic games in 4K video. The Note 8 is water-resistant, making it a perfect companion for athletes in the 2018 Olympic Games. And let's not forget the S-Pen for taking notes.

"We're proud to provide the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games Limited Edition to all athletes in an effort to help them to stay connected, capture and share one of the most memorable moments of their lives," said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President, Samsung Electronics.

Samsung's Partnership With The Olympic Games

Samsung began its partnership with the Olympic Games as a sponsor for the Nagano Olympic Winter Games in 1988. However, the Galaxy Note 8 isn't the first Olympics Winter Games limited edition phone. The Korean giant released an Olympic Games Limited Edition version of the Galaxy S7 Edge, back in 2016.

For now, this special version of the Galaxy Note 8 is only available to 2018 Olympic athletes and staff. Though, that could change if Samsung decides to sell the Olympic Games edition to the public.
