It might seem true that because smartphones have come so far in terms of aesthetics, design, and specs, there's not much left to innovate.

Sure, manufacturers can increase the RAM, add a few more megapixels, even an additional camera for good measure. But save for battery life, there's very little room for improvement left in terms of smartphones. But Vivo thinks otherwise.

Vivo Is Allegedly Creating A Beastly Phone

Per rumors, the Chinese smartphone company is cooking up a new smartphone, dubbed the Xplay7, that apparently boasts not just 6, not 8, but a whopping 10 GB of RAM, which is never before seen on a smartphone. If true, this phone could edge out even typical laptop models which only pack either 4, 6, or 8 GB of memory. As for onboard storage, the phone will apparently have 512 GB, which is pretty insane for a phone.

The phone will also feature a 4K display. On top of that, the fingerprint sensor is built under the screen. It might sound too good to be true, but take note that Vivo is the first company in the world to incorporate that kind of technology, thanks to Synaptics.

The specs mentioned above come from a leaked presentation from China, which was discovered in Chinese social platform Weibo. Aside from what's already mentioned, the phone will also have an impressive screen-to-body ratio at 92.9 percent — meaning it might be the first truly bezel-less smartphone.

The presentation also points to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, which makes sense considering this processor will inevitably power flagships to be released in 2018. It might also sport dual cameras with Sony IMX sensors that boast 4x optical zoom. It will also support some kind of facial recognition, which is labeled vaguely as "Face ID 2.0," though it's not certain if it'll be as sophisticated as Apple's fancy Face ID tech.

Too Good To Be True?

Everything about this notional phone screams too good to be true. Plus, it's easy to imagine how a phone packed with that amount of specs will cost. But assuming everything is accurate, then we might be looking at the very first phone to offer 10 GB of RAM, and whether that much RAM is necessary will be a point of excellent debate.

What do you think? Does the Vivo Xplay7 sound remotely legitimate? Do you think smartphones need to have 10 GB of RAM? As always, if you have anything to share, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
