Niantic has released an all-new Pokémon GO trailer that feels more like a nature documentary from the Discovery Channel.

The feel of the trailer is quite similar to Planet Earth as it is scored by George Fenton, who is the award-winning composer of such documentaries such as Frozen Planet, Blue Planet, and more.

The 60-second trailer from Niantic and the Pokémon Company is narrated by English actor Stephen Fry and stars some of the new Pokémon from Ruby and Sapphire. The creatures from these games have been released into the mobile title over the last few months.

New Pokémon

While the trailer features a handful of generation three creatures, there is a surprising new addition to the roster.

In the trailer, players are able to see the inclusion of Masquerain, which is the Bug and Flying-type Pokémon. Masquerain is the evolved creature of the Bug-type Pokémon Surkit. The creature got its name from its appearance, as the Pokémon’s wings make it look like a masquerade mask.

The appearance of this Pokémon indicates that Niantic is pushing another wave of generation 3 monsters as the Pokémon has not debuted on the game.

Aside from Masquerain, there are a few other appearances including Delcatty, Luvdisc, Wailord, Sharpedo, Mudkip, Minun, and Plusle. Interestingly, Minun and Plusle cannot be caught in the same location together.

The two gen-3 Pokémon are region-exclusive with Plusle only available in North America, South America, and Africa. Minun, meanwhile, is available in Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Generation 3 Pokémon

The gen-3 Pokémon began making their way to Niantic’s mobile game in October 2017 as part of a Halloween event.

Then another wave follored which launched in November 2017, and two more waves in December 2017 and January 2018. Rumors have indicated that the fifth and final waves for gen-3 Pokémon will arrive in February 2018 as there are still a handful of legendaries left to add.

Meanwhile, Pokémon GO has added two new features to the mobile game along with the gen-3 creatures. The first is the dynamic weather system that affects which Pokémon will appear based on current weather conditions.

The other update is the advanced AR+ mode that gives out extra bonuses when users are able to actually sneak up on a Pokémon and catch it.
