Fans who have been expecting to see Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers crossover movie, might cry tears of disappointment today after director James Gunn made it clear that Guardians of the Galaxy is its own thing.

Don't get it twisted, however, as Guardians of the Galaxy is indeed within the same universe as the Avengers. Still, it doesn't mean both have to crossover anytime soon, or at all for that matter.

"We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don't think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this," Gunn said. "We have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save. Earth is the Avengers' province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it's going to happen."

In our minds, this is a great move by Marvel. The Guardians of the Galaxy has a different tone when compared to the Avengers, and many fans do not want that to change. Furthermore, we see no reason for the Avengers to be fighting outside of their own Galaxy when there are several problems to be solved, the same can be said for Star-Lord and his band of merry men.

While the Avengers won't be teaming up with Guardians of the Galaxy anytime soon, it is not impossible for members of one team not to meet up with the other. There is a rumor that at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulk will be sent away to a different planet. It is possible he could be directed to a world that is situated in the same galaxy as the Guardians, and that is something we'd love to see.

For now, all we have to do is wait and see what happens in future films in the Marvel universe. Things are definitely heating up as just only recently Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D introduced the Inhuman to the universe and more is bound to come along the way.

For those who are unaware, the Inhuman film is set for the year 2018.
