A new smartwatch called Amazfit Bip is launching now in the United States with a whopping battery life and good specs overall at a budget price point.

Smartwatches have been gaining ground and becoming more advanced, boasting a range of smart tech features and specs. One of the biggest drawbacks with smartwatches, however, is their meager battery life. Most of them last for just a day or two on a single charge, which can be frustrating.

Huami's latest smartwatch offering stands out from the crown by delivering an extremely long battery life.

Amazfit Bip Smartwatch Boasts 45-Day Battery Life

Unlike other smartwatches currently available in the market, the new Amazfit Bip promises an unprecedented battery life of up to 45 days on a single charge, beating even the now-defunct Pebble, which was renowned for its long-lasting battery.

In terms of design, the Bip smartwatch bears an uncanny resemblance to an Apple Watch model at a fraction of the cost. It features a rectangular display with rounded corners, a side button, and a simple band of various color options. The black model should go on sale momentarily while the red, white, and green color options should become available by the end of next month.

Specs

The Amazfit Bip is a full-fledged smartwatch with an always-on 1.28-inch touchscreen display, GPS, an optical heart rate sensor, IP-68 certification for dust and water resistance, a 3-axis accelerometer, and notification support for both iOS and Android devices. Bear in mind that the IP-68 rating means that it should handle sweat with no issues, but it will not survive a dive in the pool.

The 45-day battery life is valid for use with "minimal notifications," otherwise the smartphone should last for up to 30 days with normal use. Even so, a month of battery life on a single charge is still quite impressive.

Price

When it comes to pricing, the Amazfit Bip costs just $99, which is significantly less than the cheapest Apple Watch model and other smartwatches with full touchscreen support. The company's previous smartwatch, the Amazfit Pace, launched in the United States toward the end of 2016 but it offers just one week of battery life.

Unlike Android Wear-powered smartwatches or the Apple Watch, however, the Amazfit Bip does come with a notable drawback: it doesn't have its own app store. This means that it can be a great tool for tracking fitness activities and getting some basic notifications, but it will not offer more advanced app support.

Nevertheless, at $99, it may still be a good deal even without its own app store.
