President Donald Trump's tweets are known for being rash and never being fact-checked. Trump plays fast and loose with the information he shares with the world via Twitter.

In one of his latest attacks on Twitter, Trump used the British National Health Service as an example of a failing system. Trump's message to attack the Democrats took a different turn after he decided to go after one of the United States's biggest allies, the UK.

Failing Healthcare

Minutes after a segment on Fox News showed that the NHS was suffering from strains during the winter, Trump tweeted about the service. Trump's tweet warned that the system of universal health care the Democrats are pushing for doesn't even work in the UK, where it's already in place.

"The Democrats are pushing for Universal HealthCare while thousands of people are marching in the UK because their U system is going broke and not working. Dems want to greatly raise taxes for really bad and non-personal medical care. No thanks," said Trump in his tweet.

After Trump's tweet, UK health secretary Jeremy Hunt defended the NHS. Hunt has been criticized for the government's actions during the winter strain on the system. Protests erupted over the weekend in London regarding the government's actions.

Hunt used the Trump's favorite platform to hit back against his accusations of the NHS. He stated that he was proud of the health service. Hunt upholds the system, saying that no one in the UK would want to live in a country where 28 million people wouldn't have healthcare coverage.

Theresa May's Response

Prime Minister Theresa May hit back at Trump through a spokesman. May backed the position put forward by Hunt, stating that the health secretary speaks for the government regarding those matters.

"The prime minister is proud of having an NHS which is free at the point of delivery. NHS funding is at a record high, and was prioritised in the budget with an extra £2.8bn," said a spokesman for May.

He also touted a recent survey that put the NHS as the best healthcare system in the world. The spokesman for May didn't say whether she was annoyed by Trump commenting on a UK domestic matter but said she doesn't have any comment on the US healthcare system.
