Taking an Uber home after a night of drinking should be a safe decision. People just have to remember to put in the right destination. A man enjoyed himself a little too much and ended up taking an Uber rider from a party in West Virginia back home to New Jersey. The trip set him back $1,600.

He was asleep through most of the ride.

Don't Drink And Drive

Kenny Bachman attended a party and then went out to a bar before deciding to go home. After calling it a night, he decided to Uber home. The only problem is that he set the wrong destination for his trip.

Bachman took a 300-mile Uber ride from Morgantown, West Virginia, to Gloucester County, New Jersey. The trip cost Bachman $1,635.93. To make matters worse, Bachman ordered a more expensive UberXL, and surge pricing was in effect when he ordered the Uber.

NJ.com did the math on the cost of his Uber ride. If there hadn't been surge pricing in effect, his ride would've been just half, $819.14.

Bachman said that he woke up a few hours in the five-hour Uber ride. He was asked why he didn't just get out of the car. Bachmann countered that he didn't want to just be left on the side of the road.

Bachman challenged the Uber ride. He said that he never put the address into the phone and that, at some point, the driver got control of the phone. Uber told NJ.com that it got in contact with Bachman, and he agreed to pay the fare.

The Uber driver didn't have any money for the tolls on the way to Bachman's New Jersey home. The driver was fined at every toll. Bachman had to make a stop to get cash to give the driver money for the tolls back to West Virginia.

Bachman's reaction to having taken a very expensive and very long Uber ride was just disbelief at the whole thing.

"Afterwards I had it fully sink in," said Bachman. "Once the ride ended and I saw how much it was when I was like 'Alright, this is insane, that's just crazy.'"

Bachman had been out at a party with friends near the campus of West Virginia University before he took the long Uber ride. He says he spent $200 at the bar drinking before going on the Uber ride.
