Kia launches its seven-passenger Sorrento 2019 with a base price of $25,990, which is reportedly just $90 more expensive than its predecessor last year.

The lineup includes four other variants in its catalog that all come with front-wheel-drive transmissions system but can be upgraded to all-wheel-drive for an additional $1,800. However, the base model is apparently not included in the modification. It sports a noticeable change with its fascia and headlights that will make it stand out when compared side-by-side with its outgoing model.

It made its debut last year during the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and will arrive in showrooms later this year.

Variants And Prices

Joining its base option is the premium-grade SX Limited Edition, which goes for $44,690. The remaining three trim levels are the LX at $27,490, EX at $35,590, and SX at $39,990. The L and LX rely on a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 178 pound-feet of torque and 185 horsepower combined with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The EX, SX, and SXL all depend on a 3.3-liter V6 unit with 290 horsepower and a torque rating of 252 pound-feet alongside an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission built by Kia. Sources note that a diesel option will be offered at a later time. Meanwhile, the SXL stands out with full-LED front lighting over the other trims.

Inclusive Options

A quick look inside the 2019 crossover model immediately showcases a new steering wheel design. Likewise the air vents, gauges, and shifter knob receive a welcome facelift, which observably makes the new version stand out from its predecessor's interior details.

The whole lineup comes with an entertainment module that carries a 7-inch touchscreen and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay platforms. The preinstalled AVN 5.0 system flaunts an optional Harman Kardon surround-sound system. Wireless charging system for compatible smartphones is included with the SX and SXL trim options.

Driver assistance technology onboard includes lane-keeping assist, a driver-attention warning system, park distance warning, and headlight beam assist for both high and low settings.

Interior Details

Looking at the built-in infotainment system of the 2019 Kia Sorrento, the manufacturer was clearly aiming for somewhat minimalistic design. Unlike other crossovers that install their entertainment consoles in a way that it pops out, the one of the Sorrento keeps it subtle and somewhat flush with the dashboard. Two 12-volt outlets, an auxiliary jack, a USB port, and Qi wireless charging pad sit in front of its shifter. Two more outlets are available for the second-row passengers

Although the higher-end SX and SXL options come with leather, almost everything else was reportedly made of plastic, which can be a deal breaker for consumers who opt for the premium range.
