OnePlus finally goes public with its first teaser for the OnePlus 6 smartphone, promoting the new product with a new slogan "the speed you need."

Now that Samsung has completed its marketing push for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, the Chinese company begins its own approach to advertising its next flagship device.

Ever since the manufacturer's first model made the rounds on the internet, it has always carried the tagline "flagship killer." Most experts believe it is well-earned given the phone's remarkable hardware. Based on the product's latest slogan, it looks like the next model will continue to earn its moniker until proven otherwise.

Hints That Another One Is Coming

Earlier this year, retailers confirmed that the OnePlus 5T, the firm's 2017 flagship device, was removed from circulation. Industry insiders immediately jumped on the opportunity to speculate that the manufacturer has something up its sleeve.

Majority of the tech publications expected the debut of the device to take place at the recent Mobile World Congress expo held in Barcelona, Spain last month. However, just like other manufacturers such as LG and Huawei, it opted to push back any plans to reveal a new handset as several leaks confirmed the official public introduction and launch of the Galaxy S9.

A Qualcomm-Powered Beast

While other smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi and Huawei choose to make use of its in-house chipsets like the Surge and Kirin respectively, OnePlus confirms that the OnePlus 6 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It supports its recent declaration that it will provide "the speed you need."

Peter Lau, the company CEO, confirmed this piece of information and also noted that the device will come out in June. Yet, given the recent marketing push and leaks shared among tech industry experts, speculation has it that the device might launch later this month.

What's Revealed (Leaked) So Far

Now that the CEO confirmed the chipset for OnePlus 6, Carl Pei, the company's co-founder, additionally pointed out that the flagship unit will come with a notch. The common trend among smartphone manufacturers these days is the bezel-reduction. Based on surveys, consumers want more screen space on their handsets and the companies aim to meet this demand.

While there are already models released and teased with bezel-less displays, companies like Apple, Essential, and OnePlus choose to keep a small notch on top of its touch screen. Both Essential and OnePlus sport a smaller one compared to Cupertino's 2017 premium smartphone, although, some buyers do not favor the design choice.

A couple of leaked images indicate that the upcoming model might shy away from the mostly metal chassis of its predecessors and flaunt a glass rear panel akin to the recent Galaxy S series of Samsung smartphones.
