The new Venom trailer finally shows Eddie Brock's transformation into the titular antihero, laying to rest theories that Venom will not actually be in the movie.

The trailer, however, includes more than just the first look at Tom Hardy as Venom, as it may have also dropped hints on what viewers may expect once the movie launches on Oct. 5.

Tom Hardy himself unveiled the new Venom trailer at CinemaCom, with the trailer focusing more on Eddie Brock and his transformation to the antihero.

"See, we didn't forget to put Venom in the movie!" said Sony Motion Pictures boss Tom Rothman.

Brock is a journalist who works for the Daily Bugle, and he takes it upon himself to investigate Dr. Carlton Drake, played by Riz Ahmed. Ahmed discovered the symbiote and started testing it on humans, and when Brock infiltrated the lab where the experiments were happening, the symbiote bonded with him.

Throughout the trailer, we see the symbiote talking to Brock in his head while giving him enhanced abilities. The trailer ends with what many fans were hoping for — the first look at the new Venom, which certainly looks more menacing compared to the character's last appearance in Spider-Man 3.

For those who may be wondering, Venom will not be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios made a deal with Sony to share Spider-Man, which is why Tom Holland's take on the webslinger who finally arrived to the MCU, starting with Captain America: Civil War. However, the Sony-owned Columbia Pictures retains the rights to the rest of the Spider-Man universe, which includes Venom.

'Venom' Movie Speculations

One of the burning questions about Venom is if the movie will include Spider-Man, who played a huge role in the symbiote's transformation to Venom. The symbiote acquired its spider-like abilities because in Spider-Man lore, it first bonded with the webslinger before attaching to Eddie Brock as its new host.

While the movie will not be in the MCU, it will be in the same universe as Spider-Man: Homecoming, which means that there is a chance for Tom Holland and Tom Hardy to cross paths in the future as Spider-Man and Venom.

There are also rumors that the real villain of the film has not yet been shown. Carnage, another symbiote that attached itself to serial killer Cletus Kasady, is speculated to appear in the movie.

In the comic books, Dr. Drake created variants of the symbiote, producing Scream, Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Riot. Will we see these characters in Venom too?
