Following a slew of leaks, rumors, theories, teasers, and great hype, Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 4 Battle Pass is now live and it brings plenty of treats.

The superhero-themed update rolled out early on Tuesday, May 1, bringing new skins, new map locations, more adventure, various improvements, and more.

Fortnite Season 4 Update

Season 3 set the stage for this new update, having players look up to the sky as a comet gradually approached Earth. In Season 4, the comet has made its way to Earth and hit Dusty Depot, creating a massive crater that has some weird glowing rocks.

"Season 4 is starting off with a BANG," touts Epic Games. "Shards of a massive comet have crashed into the map altering the landscape. Discover gravity-defying Hop Rocks and find new ways to play. Jump in and witness the aftermath of the impact while you level up your Battle Pass and earn all new loot."

One of the most major additions in the latest update is the Fortnite Season 4 Battle Pass, which has 100 tiers that players can complete to unlock exciting new rewards. In addition to gliders and skins, the update also adds sprays to the list of cosmetics, enabling players to mark their way across the map.

In terms of new map locations, players can now explore Dusty Divot and Risky Reels. Dusty Divot is replacing the former Dusty Depot after the comet smashed into it, so it's basically the area with the huge crater and the glowing rocks.

Consuming these glowing rocks allows players to "lift off with low gravity," which means that for a while, they'll be able to levitate above the ground and leap higher when they jump.

The Fortnite Season 4 Pass includes seven skins, two harvesting tools, two back bling items, six contrails, three gliders, and four dances. Players will also be able to go for hero skins with a Special Forces theme, as well as other skins that sparked interest with the teasers.

Fortnite Season 4 Patch Note Highlights

The update is major and brings a slew of improvements, bug fixes, new additions, and various other changes, but here are some of the highlights of Epic Games' patch notes.

First off, Fortnite now filters General Input settings based on game mode, and it also breaks them down into categories such as Combat, Editing, Building, and other. The Settings screen now has more icons for the top tabs, and the Accessibility tab gets a new option to "ignore gamepad input."

Headshots will now do damage even if gamers put their hand or other body parts in the way, as they will no longer be blocked. It goes for both incoming and outgoing headshots.

For instance, if players try to protect their head with their hand, the shot will go through and hit the head if the aim was right. At the same time, this will no longer count as normal damage, but as headshot damage.

Meanwhile, headshots from below that are protected by the hands, arms, shoulders, torso, or legs, will count as normal damage if the impact is not too close to the head. The Grenade Launcher and the Rocket Launcher are the only two weapons in the game not affected by this change. When spectating someone, damage numbers are now immediately visible.

Among the highlight UI changes, players can now favorite various cosmetic items in the Locker, and a new Random option is available for each slot for cosmetic equipment. This option will randomly select between favorited items or, if none is marked as favorite, it will choose from all items.

Prior to this update, players could only use six slots for Sprays and Emotes on their emote wheel but now, there's no limit. A new button called Locker Emote Slot, meanwhile, allows players to charge any six Spray or Emote presets. The game now also supports a 4:3 aspect ratio. Other new buttons include Repair Building and Cycle Weapon.

The update also brings a number of bug fixes, performance improvements, various optimizations, higher loot rates, and more.
