Google Pixel 3 leaks and rumors continue to trickle in, and the latest leak may finally settle the debate on whether the smartphone will have a notch or not.

Will the Pixel 3 have a notch on its display? The answer to that question, apparently, is both yes and no.

Will The Pixel 3 Notch Happen? Yes And No

There have been contradicting rumors on whether or not Google will introduce a notch on the Pixel 3 display, resulting in confusion among fans of Google's flagship Android-powered smartphones.

According to a previous report, the Android P beta may have confirmed the Pixel 3 notch due to the limited number of notification icons on the status bar at the top of the screen. No current Android smartphone with a notch fits the space made by the icons, which is allegedly proof that the Android P beta is testing the Pixel 3 notch.

However, a succeeding report, also based on the Android P beta, claimed that there will be no Pixel 3 notch. Based on images that showed the operating system's refined gesture controls, it appeared that the Pixel 3 will not follow the trend popularized by iPhone X and will instead maintain the slim bezel look of the Pixel 2.

The latest in Pixel 3 leaks, however, may finally settle the debate once and for all. According to an image of tempered glass screen protectors for the upcoming devices, it looks like there will be no Pixel 3 notch, but the feature will be used for the larger Pixel 3 XL.

Questions About The Pixel 3 Notch

Judging from the cutouts of the screen protectors, it looks like the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will feature front-facing speakers, just like their predecessors, as well as the standard ambient light and front-facing camera. There is also the chance that there will be dual front-facing cameras for both devices.

The Pixel 3 XL notch, however, takes up a lot of space, which might contradict its purpose of opening up more screen real estate because a status bar will occupy the sides of the notch. The Pixel 3, meanwhile, further reduces the size of the bezels compared to the Pixel 2, but with rounded corners unlike its predecessor.

All that said, all of these rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt until Google confirms anything about the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The leaked screen protectors, however, give credibility to all the Pixel 3 notch or no notch rumors.
