Peter Parker is returning to the big screen this Christmas. However, he will bring several more Spider-related superheroes with him.

Into The Spider-Verse

Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the official trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man animated feature, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, on June 6. This two-minute, 40-second trailer introduced viewers to Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore). In his universe, Miles lives with his family including his father, who happens to be a New York Police Department. He also keeps a huge secret hidden from them that he is Spider-Man.

However, Miles is from an alternate world where he is the only person that swings around New York City to fight evil. Somehow, Miles ended up on Earth-616, home to Peter Parker (voiced by Jake Johnson), who is his universe's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. The younger Spider-Man's life is forever changed when Peter rescues him from a mysterious villain.

The Two Spider-Men

Throughout the trailer, fans were able to see how Miles convinced a reluctant Peter to mentor him when it comes to super heroics. Despite their rocky start, the older hero gives Miles several pieces of advice including focusing on saving one person and not replicating any of Peter's failures. The young Spider-Man also encounters some of Parker's allies and adversaries including the Prowler and the Kingpin.

One theme that is incorporated into the film is Miles' relationship with his father, Jefferson (voiced by Brian Tyree Henry). When he is in his civilian clothes, Miles is embarrassed that his father takes him to school in his cop car and even Jefferson teases him in front of the entire student body.

In the preview, fans also see an intense scene as the New York Police Department cop threatens to take Miles in before he vanishes. The last surprise that filmmakers put into the trailer was the inclusion of Spider-Gwen (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld), who makes her big screen debut.

Spider-Man's World

Before Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse drops into theaters on Christmas, fans have plenty of chances to see Spider-Man and other related characters appear in various media platforms. While Thanos 'killed' the live action version of Spider-Man (Tom Holland) during Avengers: Infinity War, the remaining heroes are expected to take the fight to the Mad Titan in Avengers 4. A fan posted an image on Imgur that featured Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and newcomer Captain Marvel.

The scary symbiote known as Venom is expected to return to the silver screen in a self-titled film starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. The latest trailer featured Hardy's Eddie Brock transforming into the antihero.  Venom will be in theatres on Oct. 5. Sony confirmed that the solo film would not take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
