Capcom unveiled Devil May Cry 5, the long-awaited follow-up to 2008's Devil May Cry 4 that brings back the original characters and storyline of the stylish action franchise.

The Devil May Cry 5 release date will not arrive any time soon, but details on the game have already revealed what gamers can expect from the new Devil May Cry game.

Devil May Cry 5 Release Date

Capcom officially revealed Devil May Cry 5 through a trailer that was shown during the Microsoft press conference for E3 2018.

The announcement was a surprising one, as there was no hard evidence that hinted Devil May Cry 5 was coming up. The trailer has now hyped up fans of the series and ends with the Devil May Cry 5 release date of spring 2019 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Devil May Cry 5 Story And Characters

The Devil May Cry 5 announcement trailer, alongside information that was translated from the Japanese Twitter account for the series, provided a clear picture of what the game will be about.

The Devil May Cry 5 story starts with a giant tree with blood-sucking roots attacking people in Red Grave City. Nero, the nephew of Dante who first appeared in Devil May Cry 4, goes to take down the creature alongside his sidekick Nico, who is a self-proclaimed weapons artist.

The big thing about Nero is that he has apparently lost his arm in an unknown incident in between the events of Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5, and with it the Devil Trigger power. Nico, however, created a replacement arm named the Devil Breaker, which Nero will use alongside the sword Red Queen and the shotgun Blue Rose to take down enemies.

Devil May Cry 5 Gameplay

Devil May Cry 5 brings back the hack-and-slash, fast-paced, over-the-top gameplay that has been the franchise's signature style. The Devil Breaker gives players a new tool in their arsenal, as it is capable of pulling in enemies. The sword-and-gun combinations are also making their return.

Nero, however, is just one of the three playable characters in Devil May Cry 5. Dante, who was shown at the end of the announcement trailer, will be the second, while the third character is still unknown.

Capcom added that the Devil May Cry 5 gameplay was built using the Resident Evil 7 engine, which will allow the game to run at 60 frames per second with photorealistic environments and character models.
