After the disappointment of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of the Justice League, Justice League, and Suicide Squad, many people have lost a little faith in the DC extended universe.

Following the success of Wonder Woman, fans are holding their breath for the next stand-alone DC film, Aquaman. The team that worked with Director James Wan have broken their silence about the next DC film and are confident that it won't sink.

Aquaman 2018

The film's producers and executives spoke exclusively to EW about the movie, sharing that it will be released in December 2018. They stated that this film will take the audience to a different place and will present the underwater world like they've never seen before.

Peter Safran, one of the film's producers, stated that the film has great action and great humor. He went on to state that Wan's vision for the film has put it in an extraordinary step for the DC extended universe that sets it on the right path.

Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment president who recently announced he was leaving the company, offered the same sentiments and stated the visual effects are "beautiful" and the film has "bright, colorful action" and "emotional" scenes.

How Will They Talk Underwater?

One other pressing questions fans have about the upcoming DC film is how the actors will communicate on screen. In Justice League, after being defeated by the film's main villain, Steppenwolf, Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) briefly spoke after Mera created an air pocket for them.

Fans heavily criticized that scene noting that Atlanteans don't need air to talk. Wan commented on how the dialogue will be handled in the film and stated that he would handle the underwater dialogue differently.

"People are overthinking it, they're just gonna talk!" Wan stated. There haven't been any more spoilers about the DC film but the movie will take place following the events of Justice League and will show Aquaman struggling to take place as king of Atlantis.

Also starring in the film is Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Willaim Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna. Following Aquaman, the next stand-alone films in the DC Universe will be one with Jared Leto reprising his role as the Joker from the Suicide Squad and a sequel to the 2017 Wonder Woman film. There is also talks of a possible stand-alone film for The Flash.
