The OnePlus 6 Android flagship is a massive hit already, with more than 1 million units sold in less than one month on the market.

More precisely, it took OnePlus just 22 days to sell a million OnePlus 6 smartphones, marking an impressive achievement. The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T took three months each to reach the same milestone.

OnePlus 6 Success

Pete Lau, the OnePlus CEO, confirmed the achievement to Business Insider, noting that it managed to be so successful thanks to its 26 pop-up shops in 11 countries worldwide.

The 1 million units sold might not sound as impressive when compared to huge companies such as Apple or Samsung. It's worth keeping in mind, however, that OnePlus is still growing and there are a lot more iPhones and Galaxy phones on the market compared to OnePlus phones.

OnePlus set out a few years ago to deliver flagship killers, meaning high-end smartphones with powerful specifications, at a fraction of the cost of rival handsets.

It made a name for itself thanks to its high-quality devices at affordable price points, and it saw tremendous growth in the past few years. In North America alone, OnePlus achieved a 139 percent increase in sales from 2016 to 2017, and it aims to further boost its growth this year.

At the same time, it's worth pointing out that OnePlus doesn't have the same reach as larger companies, and its smartphones are not as readily available. OnePlus is selling its devices directly to consumers, rather than third-party vendors or carriers. Even so, it has a growing fan base and its devices are appealing to more customers each year.

OnePlus 6 Specs

The OnePlus 6 is the company's latest flagship and it's a true powerhouse all around, yet retails for just $529. That's significantly less than the starting price of a Samsung Galaxy S9 or an iPhone X. On the other hand, the OnePlus 6 doesn't have the high-resolution Infinity Display of the Galaxy S9, nor wireless charging, or other such premium features.

Otherwise, the OnePlus 6 comes with top-notch specs and a beastly performance that can keep up with any rival. As a reminder, the OnePlus 6 features a large 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a full HD+ resolution.

Under the hood, the device packs a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. That's more than most smartphones out there and should ensure a fast and smooth performance even with more demanding tasks.

Available storage options include 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB of internal storage space, with prices going up for the higher-capacity versions.

The OnePlus 6 further features a dual rear camera setup, with a 20-megapixel sensor and a 16-megapixel one. One the front, the smartphone comes with a 16-megapixel selfie cam.

Other specs include a 3,300 mAh battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Dash Charge fast charging technology. On the software side, it runs OnePlus's proprietary OxygenOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Considering the high-end specs it packs for a starting price of just $529, it's not utterly surprising that the OnePlus saw great success so far, with more than 1 million units sold in 22 days.
