A Nintendo store in New York received a bomb threat from a disgruntled gamer who did not like the removal of the playable Super Smash Bros. kiosks from the retail outlet.

The threatening message, however, was sent back in April. While no further threats have been made, the police are still investigating the incident, which is rightly not being considered a laughing matter.

Nintendo New York Store Receives Bomb Threat

The Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Center in New York received a bomb threat over the removal of Super Smash Bros. kiosks, the New York Police Department confirmed.

The threat, however, was made by the disgruntled gamer back in April. It was discovered when administrators were clearing out the inbox of an email account that is associated to the store, but remains largely unused.

The exact wording of the bomb threat was not revealed, but the sender specifically cited the removal of the Super Smash Bros. kiosks as the reason for the message.

The news of the bomb threat was first reported on twitter by Twitch streamer Mitsu, who said that the bomb threat was considered as a "credible" one. However, it did not prompt a closure of the Nintendo store, despite reportedly being escalated to the FBI and investigated as a possible terrorist act.

Since the message was sent in April and no bombs have exploded since then, there is belief that the threat is no longer dangerous. However, further investigation will be required to ensure the safety of Nintendo World customers and employees.

'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' At E3 2018

Super Smash Bros. is a massively popular fighting game that showcases a roster of characters from various Nintendo games and franchises.

The latest entry in the series, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch, was a huge part of the Nintendo E3 2018 plans. At the annual video game event, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was revealed to include all characters from all past Super Smash Bros. titles, for a roster that contains over 60 characters. This includes Metal Gear Solid's Snake, who was part of 2008's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and returning favorites such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man, and Ice Climbers.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will also not be a port of previous Super Smash Bros. titles from the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U. It will be an entirely new game that will feature tens of thousands of changes, which should excite fans of the fighting franchise.
