There were many shocking deaths in the Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity Wars, but the first one to hit close to home was the violent death of Thor's brother Loki, played by actor Tom Hiddleston.

While fans have different conspiracies on which character will return for the fourth film, Hiddleston may have confirmed that his journey as Loki ended in Infinity Wars.

The God Of Mischief

In the opening of Infinity Wars, the film's main villain, Thanos, had overtaken the spaceship that was carrying the remaining survivors of Asgard's destruction. After killing the survivors on the ship, Thanos also killed Loki when the God of mischief attempted to stab Thanos. This isn't the first time Loki has "died" in a Marvel film. Loki also died in Thor: The Dark World, but apparently survived — posing as his adoptive father, Odin.

Fans think this would also happen in the fourth Avengers film; however, Hiddleston explained during the ACE Comic-con that his character won't be making a return.

The actor said he knew about the scene two years ago.

"So, I've known about that scene for two years. I met with Marvel in May 2016, and they were actually telling me the story of Ragnarok with concept art and images. The Russos came in, and I introduced myself. So, all four of us sat down, and they said this is how Infinity War begins," the actor commented.

He elaborated that his death scene in Infinity Wars was "powerful" and "important" as it showed that Thanos was not going to let anyone get in the way of his destiny.

What's Next For The Avengers?

Fans have a little less than a year to see how the remaining heroes will stop Thanos, now that he posses all of the Infinity Stones, the fourth Avengers film. Infinity Wars ended with Thanos succeeding in his plan to solve the overpopulation problem in the universe and eradicating half of life. This included half of the Avengers team.

After activating his Infinity Gauntlet, the mad Titan retired to another planet to watch the sunrise. There have not been many spoilers revealed about the fourth Avengers film; however, Captain Marvel, portrayed by actress Brie Larson, is set to make an appearance.

The next film will be released in theaters May 2019.
