Fans of the Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity Wars, are still trying to digress what took place during the last few moments of the film, which several Avengers turned into dust.

Marvel Studio president Kevin Feige revealed that there was a reason certain members of the Avengers team was not killed off during the ending of the film.

It All Leads To This Moment

Infinity Wars opened with Thanos killing Loki, the god of mischief and Thor's brother, and Heimdall, Thor's best friend and an Asgardian former sentry of the Bifröst Bridge. Following this, Thanos also murdered his adoptive daughter Gamora, by throwing her off a cliff.

When it came time for the Avengers to face off against Thanos, the team ended up losing, and Thanos completed his goal in retrieving the remaining Infinity Stones and wiping out half the world's population.

This included Spiderman, Star-Lord, Bucky Barnes, Black Panther, and Scarlett Witch. Fans may have noticed that among the remaining members of the Avengers team were the original five, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Iron-Man. According to Feige, there was a reason why the five original members were left behind.

"I think for a film series that is going on 10 years and is gearing towards a conclusion with Avengers 4, which you don't usually have in these kinds of movies, you can sort of do the math. And realize it's the original Avengers that are left," Feig stated.

The Future Of The Avengers

Although there have been leaks and spoilers that have made their way onto the internet, the actors and writers of the film have done their best to remain tight-lipped about the movie.

Elizabeth Olsen, who portrays Scarlett Witch/Wanda Maximoff, revealed that the actors and actresses from Infinity Wars didn't know about the ending of the film until the day they shot it. However, Tom Hiddleston, who portrays Loki, stated in a previous interview he was aware of his character's demise two years ago.

The writers of the film have teased that Infinity Wars and Avengers 4 would be the end of the Avengers era in the Marvel Universe.

Infinity Wars featured an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, Chadwick Boseman, and Zoe Saldana.

The fourth untitled film will arrive in theaters in may 2019.
