Capcom has finally unveiled the Monster Hunter: World for PC release date and system requirements, preparing fans of the creature-slaying franchise for the game's arrival to another platform.

Monster Hunter: World reviews were mostly positive when it was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January, with the title eventually claiming the throne as the fastest-selling Capcom game. It will take several months, but Monster Hunter: World is finally coming to the PC.

Monster Hunter: World PC Release Date

The Monster Hunter: World PC launch will be on Aug. 9, when the game will be rolled out on Steam. The date was revealed by a new trailer that announced the title's arrival to the platform.

Monster Hunter: World for PC will be released earlier than expected, as it was initially pegged for a fall launch. This is welcome news in an industry that has become notorious for delayed release dates.

The launch of Monster Hunter: World for PC, the first time that the series will be available on the platforms, will coincide with the franchise's arrival to the Nintendo Switch on Aug. 28. The game arriving to the hybrid console, however, will not be Monster Hunter: World, but rather Monster Hunter: Generations Ultimate, the localized version of Monster Hunter XX for the Nintendo 3DS.

Monster Hunter: World PC System Requirements

The Monster Hunter: World Steam page revealed the minimum and recommended system requirements to run the game on the PC.

The Monster Hunter: World PC minimum system requirements are as follows:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460, 3.20GHz or AMD FX-6300
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x (VRAM 2GB)

Meanwhile, the Monster Hunter: World PC recommended system requirements are as follows:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz, Intel Core i3 8350 4GHz, or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (VRAM 3GB) or AMD Radeon RX 570X (VRAM 4GB)

In both scenarios, Monster Hunter: World requires a 64-bit version of Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10. The game will also need 8 GB of RAM, DirectX 11, a broadband internet connection, 20 GB of storage, and a DirectSound sound card with DirectX 9.0c.

The game's preorder bonuses also appear on the Monster Hunter: World Steam page. Customers who purchase the title before its release date will be able to avail the Origin Set armor, described as "a nostalgic must-have for series fans." Pre-purchases will also come with the Fair Wind charm, which contains skills that increase players' attack power and reduce the damage that players take.
