Bandai Namco launched a teaser website for what appears to be a new horror game. While details on the project remain scarce, gamers are already intrigued by its similarities with Capcom's Resident Evil franchise.

The teaser website hints that more information about the new horror game will be released in just over two weeks. What could the Summer Horror Project be all about?

'Summer Horror Project': Here's What We Know So Far

The teaser website launched by Bandai Namco is titled Summer Horror Project, and true to its name, it is hinting at a new horror game.

Visiting the website shows what looks like a security camera footage of the front of a house during dusk. Nothing is moving except for the sky, so the scene paints a creepy mood. Also, what appears to be a table and pots are lying on the ground in the yard, possibly due to some kind of struggle.

The website displays Twitter and Facebook buttons for sharing on social media.

"A mysterious site appears? Something will happen this summer..." the default sharing message reads.

Another clue to what the Summer Horror Project is all about is the word "domas" that appears in both the website's URL and in the information on the lower-right side of the scene. A quick online search reveals that doma is the Latin word for house, but that does not provide any more insight on what the game will be about.

The information also displays a date of Aug. 30, 2018, which may mean that the scene will progress during that date.

Digging into meta keywords of the website, meanwhile, revealed "zombie" and "horror" as the included keywords. A house and zombies certainly evoke similarities with Capcom's Resident Evil franchise.

Resident Evil 7 Proved Horror Genre Still Alive

Capcom's release of Resident Evil 7 in January 2017 was a huge success. The franchise moved away from the previous action-adventure genre and went back to its horror roots, revitalizing the series in the process.

The popularity of Resident Evil 7 proved that the horror genre was still alive, prompting Capcom to work on a Resident Evil 2 remake.

Bandai Namco, the video game studio behind the Tekken and Dark Souls series, is apparently looking to take advantage of that fact. It remains to be seen, however, if the Summer Horror Project will further invigorate the horror video game industry, or undo what Resident Evil 7 has done.
