Lara Croft is set to face formidable opponents in the upcoming adventure game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which will be launched on Sept. 14.

The trailer released by Square Enix and Eidos Montréal, which is entitled "Know Your Enemy," digs deep into the constant danger that Lara is facing as she looks to overcome a plethora of Trinity soldiers that range from goons to special forces with goggles. The wildlife will also pose a great deal of trouble for Lara, as members of the local tribes have proven to be as hostile as ever.

However, Lara will not only face humans, as the much-awaited video game will also feature supernatural creatures and a jungle, which is an intimidating place that could possess many dangers. Other opponents that are set to give Lara a tough time are piranha swarms, Mayans with swords, a jaguar, and the invisible eels.

Additionally, the trailer also displayed an American soldier who mispronounced the name "Lara Croft." Prior to the "Know Your Enemy" video, trailers on underwater exploration, takedowns, and weapons were also shown to the gaming community.

A Different Kind Of Lara

Unlike the first of three games wherein users met a scared young warrior, Lara has evolved into an awesome archaeologist who is made ready for any challenge. The Shadow of the Tomb Raider will come to Xbox One, Windows PC, and PlayStation next month, tying off the reboot trilogy of the adventure game, which started five years ago.

Other games of the Tomb Raider series besides the Shadow of the Tomb Raider include the Tomb Raider in 2013 and the Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. The Rise of the Tomb Raider was originally released for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 in November 2015 before it was released on PC in January.

PlayStation 4 would later allow users to play the Rise of the Tomb Raider in October. However, players were not recommended to play the Blood Ties DLC portion of the game on the PlayStation VR headset, as it results in an abysmal experience.

More To Come

With Gamescom happening later this week, Polygon hints that game developers are likely to give everyone a deeper glimpse of the game before its official launch. Just this June, leaked creative materials, which included the logo and some key arts, were seen online on the Takeoff Creative website.

Gaming aficionados can reserve a copy of the game by preordering it on Amazon. Meanwhile, a Tomb Raider movie starring Alicia Vikander was shown in theaters earlier this March.
