Onimusha: Warlords debuted 17 years ago on PlayStation 2 attracting players to engage in fierce against demons using mission-driven warrior characters in a feudal Japan setting.

The game sold more than 2 million copies worldwide before going into a long hiatus. Now, Capcom will bring the game back on PlayStation 4, with a bevy of changes that will attract users to embark on an adventure of good against evil.

In the latest Onimusha: Warlords game, the story will revolve around the mission of samurai Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede to save Princess Yuki from the demons who invaded her castle after the perceived death of the evil lord Nobunaga Oda. In their quest to save Princess Yuki, the two Japanese warriors will discover a demonic plot that they have never seen before in their lives.

'Onimusha: Warlords' Release Date

According to Capcom, players who want to play the role of a samurai can get their hands on the latest Onimusha: Warlords game on Jan. 15, 2019 for $19.99. For North American players, they can preorder the physical version now while they have to wait for the digital version, which will be released at a later date.

For Europe, Onimusha: Warlords will be available only in digital format. For owners of other hardware other than PlayStation 4, Onimusha: Warlords will also release versions for Switch, PC, and Xbox One.

A 'Resident Evil' Spin-Off

Onimusha: Warlords was originally planned as a Resident Evil spin-off set in a mansion filled with booby traps, hidden pathways, and other ninja-like features. However, it was decided that it will be a separate game franchise.

Onimusha: Warlords is designed to test the patience of the players who could either use Samanosuke or Kaeda to fight evil using their sword-fighting skills. Samanosuke is armed with a katana to battle the evil forces inside the castle. Kaede, meanwhile, has several weapons in his arsenal to take out the demons who are trying to stop him getting to Princess Yuki.

Updated Features For PS4

The latest version of Onimusha: Warlords still carries the fixed camera setting while characters, environment, and the cinematics are upgraded to make it high definition. The latest edition also supports the original game's display and the modern widescreen display and players could choose which display to use in-game.

A screen scroll feature for widescreen display has been added to let players see more of the fixed screens than ever before with the help of the camera that can scroll up or down based on players' movement. The latest edition allows gamers to move using the analog stick, which gives them accurate movement and accessibility especially during combat mode.

For old-school players, the directional input from the original game is still available. Unlike in the original game, the Easy Mode in the latest version is already unlocked from the start to enable players to enjoy the story. Easy Mode allows players to kill enemies easily, but using it will prevent them from changing difficulty level once they start playing.
