Garmin has raised the stakes in the activity tracking device business with the launching of Vivosmart 4, which could directly challenge Fitbit's Charge 3.

Priced at $129.99, the Vivosmart 4 is $20 cheaper than the Charge 3, but it contains new features that could put it ahead of the competition. Garmin said the Vivosmart 4 is loaded with fitness and wellness features that will enable its user to have a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Vivosmart 4 Monitors Sleep Quality

Stressing that sleep is important to a person's overall health, well-being, and physical performance, Garmin has included the Pulse Ox technology on the Vivosmart 4 to help the user's sleep quality.

The Pulse Ox feature can determine if users have a good night's sleep or not by monitoring their oxygen saturation level. In addition, the Pulse Ox technology can also monitor your light, deep, and REM stages of sleep. Users can review and compare the results of their sleeps stats via the Garmin Connect Mobile app so they can check if they have a good night's sleep, helping them to get through the day.

Device Could Look Into Energy Levels

For those who work out regularly, the Vivosmart 4 has the right feature for them. The Body Battery energy feature can determine their energy levels by measuring stress, heart rate variability, sleep quality, and activity. Through this feature, users can determine if they're up to performing a heavy workout or heavy workload or if they need to take it easy due to low energy level.

Garmin has redesigned its heart rate sensor to make this feature possible to help users determine their energy level. By reworking its heart rate sensor to make it powerful, Vivosmart 4 can now perform all-day stress tracking. The device can also remind users to take a rest if their stress levels are high. If the stress is too much to bear, Vivosmart has a relaxation breathing timer, which instructs them to take the Fourfold breathing technique that will help calm the body.

Vivosmart 4 Helps Track Your Workouts

Vivosmart 4 allows users to monitor exercise time and more through its preloaded activity timers. By using the strength training activity feature, they can estimate exercises, reps, and rest times. The device can provide information on the users' current fitness levels by collating heart rate data from their wrist. Vivosmart 4's versatility also allows them to check weather, control music, receive smart notifications, find their phone, reply with preset text responses, and access social media notifications on their tracker's display without the hassle of carrying a smartphone. You can use the Vivosmart 4 for up to seven days without charging and is pool- and shower-safe.
