Just before Burt Reynolds could shoot for Quentin Tarantino's film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, he died of a suspected heart attack.

His agent Todd Eisner said that according to 911 records, a call for an ambulance was made from his estate located in Martin County, Florida.

Burt Reynold's Role In 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'

Reynolds was just hired to play the role last May. He was set to play the character of rancher George Spahn in the Tarantino flick that is set in 1969 Los Angeles before the murders by Manson family. He was cast alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

"I don't know how long I'm going to be around, but I want to be proud of what've done as I walk into the sunset," Erik Kritzer, the actor's manager remembered him saying around eight years ago.

Famous Movies

Reynolds reportedly felt fulfilled after his movie The Last Movie Star where he played an old movie actor. Furthermore, he was also excited to work with Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino and was looking forward to more job opportunities.

"I know he passed away happy with how his career ended, but he also was excited to go work with Quentin and about what else lied ahead," his manager added.

Reynolds,82, received offers on new roles and his manager was also negotiating for the Boogie Nights star to do some films before the actor's death.

Furthermore, he did a six-day shoot in Canada for a low-budget movie titled Defining Moments, which is still about to be released.

The Michigan native had roles in films such as Smokey and the Bandit and John Boorman's 1972 film Deliverance, which he regarded as his best film by far. He was also known for his 1996 movie Striptease where he played Rep. David Dilbeck.

"I thought maybe this film is more important in a lot of ways than we've given it credit for," he was quoted saying about Deliverance.

Notably, he also stated that the film's rape scene aided the public to understand how a sexual attack can inflict horror on someone.

Aside from acting, the famous actor also tried his luck on directing and even got a reputation for his philanthropic work when he founded the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre in Florida.

Reynolds was born in Lansing, Michigan. However, his family relocated to South Florida when he was just 5 years old.

He was famous in his high school for playing football and even got a ride to Florida State University because of his athletic prowess. However, he switched his focus to acting after he had some injuries.
