Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Odyssey, one of the most anticipated games of the year, may be played for free on the Google Chrome browser through the newly unveiled Project Stream.

The prospect of video game streaming has long been an intriguing one in the industry, but it is very difficult to implement due to the extreme importance of quick input response and low latency. However, if there is a company that could figure it out, it will be Google, which makes the official announcement of Project Stream very exciting.

Google Video Game Streaming Service Unveiled

Music and video streaming services such as Spotify and Netflix have figured out how to provide seamless experiences to their customers, but video game streaming is much more demanding. There is no room for lag, as a delayed button press may mean the difference between success and failure in a game.

Google, in an official blog post, revealed that it has been working on Project Stream, which aims to solve the technical problems that are holding back the creation of an acceptable video game streaming service. According to previous rumors, the project was codenamed Yeti, and that it will be one of the major features of an upcoming Google video game console that will challenge the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Google also revealed that it has teamed up with Ubisoft for Project Stream for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Play 'Assassin's Creed Odyssey' For Free On Chrome

According to Google, the full game of Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be playable on Chrome browsers starting Oct. 5. It will be free of charge, but the catch is that the Project Stream test will only accept a limited number of participants.

Interested players may sign up at the official Project Stream website to help test Assassin's Creed Odyssey on Chrome browsers. Google recommends an internet connection of at least 25 Mbps and requires applicants to be at least 17 years old and living in the United States.

To generate more hype about Project Stream and to help attract testers, Google released an Assassin's Creed Odyssey gameplay video that was captured through Project Stream.
