The LG V40 ThinQ is now official, and from the look of things, it's the manufacturer's answer to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the iPhone XS Max.

There's a lot to love about it, from its notched OLED screen (6.4 inches, 3,120 x 1,440) and five cameras (three on the back and two on the front) to its hi-fi Quad DAC and Boombox Speaker, which was first introduced in the LG G7. The rear camera setup is a real people pleaser. It's got telephoto and wide-angle lenses (12 and 16 megapixels, respectively) and a standard 12-megapixel lens. On the other side, there's an 8-megapixel snapper and a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens.

In terms of performance, it's on par with its rivals: Snapdragon 845, 6 GB of RAM, and 64 GB or 128 GB of storage. A 3,300 mAh battery keeps the lights on, and it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Also, it boasts an IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging. Yes, there's a headphone jack as well.

The phone isn't hitting the shelves until Oct. 18, but it'll be up for preorder across most major carriers in the United States between Oct. 11 and 18 with a price range between $900 and $980. It's also worth mentioning that preorders made within that time frame will get a SanDisk Ultra 256 GB microSD card plus a DJI OSMO Mobile 2 Gimbal for free, which is also available through LG (site is still down at the time of this writing). There's still no word on the unlocked version's availability, though.

AT&T

The carrier is selling the LG V40 ThinQ for $950 or $31.67 per month over 30 months. Crunching the numbers real quick, the total cost works out the same regardless of which option. Preorders are kicking off on Oct. 12, while retail availability will be on Oct. 19.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile subscribers will have to pay $200 down and $30 per month over 24 months for the phone, and there's an option to fork over $920 in one go. Preorders will begin on Oct. 12, and the handset can be bought at the store on Oct. 19.

Sprint

The LG V40 ThinQ will be up for grabs over at Sprint on Oct. 19 through a Flex Lease plan for $20 a month for 18 months. According to the carrier, this offer will save subscribers $360.

US Cellular

Price is set at $900 for a one-time payment or $29.99 a month on a 30-month "equipment installment plan." Now the carrier will give those who preorder $150 back in bill credits and a case to go along with the phone for $0.11 — talk about odd pricing. It's opening preorders on Oct. 12, and it's putting the handset up for sale on Oct. 19.

Verizon

The Big Red is the early bird on this list. Preorders are starting on Oct. 11 here, and the carrier is going to sell the LG V40 ThinQ on Oct. 18. As for the price, it's $40.83 per month over 24 months or $979.99 outright.
