The Fortnite Mobile for Android beta no longer requires an invitation, allowing all gamers with compatible devices to download and play the massively popular Battle Royale shooter.

The Android version for Fortnite Mobile, however, is not available through the Google Play Store. Gamers who want to jump into the action will have to download the game a different way.

'Fortnite Mobile' For Android Beta Now Open To Everyone

Developer Epic Games made the much-awaited announcement through its official Twitter account:

Fortnite Mobile for Android first launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, then was made available to more smartphones a few days later. However, those who wanted to try the game needed an invitation before they play.

With the invitation now gone, the only limitation left for Android device owners is whether their smartphone or tablet is capable of running Fortnite Mobile. Android devices capable of properly launching Fortnite Mobile include the Samsung Galaxy S7 or later, Google's Pixel line of smartphones, the OnePlus 5 or later, and many more that can be checked through the Android FAQ of Fortnite.

The baseline recommendation for an Android device to run Fortnite Mobile is Android 8.0 Oreo or higher, at least 3 GB of RAM, and GPU of Adreno 530 or higher, or Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher. Fortnite Mobile may still run at lower specifications, but at the risk of performance issues.

How To Install 'Fortnite Mobile' For Android

To install Fortnite Mobile for Android, users will need to access the Fortnite website on their Android device, or scan the QR code on the Android section of the website. Doing so will launch the Fortnite installer, which will then download the rest of the game.

Epic Games decided to bypass the Google Play Store as a middleman for Android gamers, which also allows the developer to skip paying Google a percentage of profits. However, it was regarded as a bad idea due to the possible security risks, which later became reality when hackers injected malware into the Fortnite Mobile installer.

Epic Games, however, has since fixed the installer to make it more secure. It now remains to be seen how much bigger Fortnite can get, after its expansion into Android devices.
