YouTube servers seemed to be having issues Tuesday late night as many people complained that they could not access any YouTube videos.

Those clicking on www.youtube.com were greeted with blank pages while others said they were left stranded on a '500 Internal Server Error' page when trying to access the video service.

"Sorry, something went wrong. A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation. If you see them, send them this information as text (screenshots frighten them):" a message on the page read, followed by some garbled codes.

The outage is not limited to just U.S. users, it appears. The buzz on Twitter reveals that it has affected users in the UK as well as other parts of the world as many complain that they were greeted by error messages (500, 503) as they tried to log in and upload videos or watch videos on the platform.

Google has not yet come out with a statement as to what happened to the hugely popular video platform. However, YouTube tweeted:
