OnePlus has officially confirmed that a Thunder Purple edition of its latest OnePlus 6T flagship is arriving stateside this Nov. 15. This special variant was announced in China just recently.

The news is a slight surprise considering products and special editions that debut in China often don't make it to the United States.

Like the Midnight and Mirror Black versions, the Thunder Purple will come with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage for $579. It's basically the same model down to the in-display fingerprint sensor, Verizon compatibility, and all the other features.

This particular colorway, most notably, isn't a solid purple color. OnePlus has chosen to ditch the single-color route in favor of a more gradient look, the black dissolving into purple from the top to the bottom of the device, which gives off a gorgeous ombre effect. It also comes in a smooth, matte finish and, like the Midnight Black variant, features the S-curve that's visible under the glass when reflecting light.

OnePlus 6T Specs

The OnePlus 6T is arguably one of the best smartphones consumers can buy this year, and as usual with all of OnePlus' handsets, it offers an incredible value for one's money — flagship-level specs at half or often the fraction of the price of a Samsung or an Apple. Granted, OnePlus has been increasing its entry price with every major upgrade in the past several years, but that's to be expected as the company evolves from being the budget underdog to a more serious premium competitor.

To be fair, though, the OnePlus 6T is still incredibly cheap for the specs people are going to get. For one, it sports the latest in fingerprint technology every major smartphone company is quickly trying to implement into their own phones — an in-display sensor. Neither Apple or Samsung has that. At least not yet.

As for the display, the phone has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080. Underneath is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that's partnered with, as mentioned, up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of onboard storage. On the back is a dual camera setup — 16 and 20 megapixels — and on the front is a respectable 16-megapixel selfie shooter. Keeping everything juiced up is a decent 3,700 mAh battery.

The phone is available now on the OnePlus online store.
