While the owner is away, Rocco, the famed African grey parrot known for being foulmouthed, has been using Amazon Alexa to order snacks.

The clever bird used to be in a sanctuary in the United Kingdom before it was shooed away after its expletives-laden statements, said to be taught by his previous owner, proved to be too much to handle. Although this was the case, Rocco found a loving owner, Marion Wischnewski, a worker in the National Animal Welfare Trust.

Hearing Conversations With Alexa

Apparently, Rocco had gotten used to hearing and seeing his owners talk to Amazon's virtual assistant that he learned to use it too when they are gone. That is the time he will order snacks such as strawberries, ice cream, broccoli, watermelon, and raisins, and even a houseware such as a kettle.

Luckily, the orders do not push through because of a parental lock feature. Wischnewski admitted that after catching Rocco in action of his shopping galore, she now usually checks and cancels orders once she's home from work.

Amazon Alexa For Entertainment

However, it's not only ordering food that Rocco has mastered, but it also uses Amazon Alexa to entertain himself. The parrot loves interacting with the virtual assistant, asking it to play music, specifically love songs, to which the master said was an indicator that the animal has a "sweet personality."

"They chat away to each other all day. Often I come in and there's music playing," Wischnewski said.

To explain Rocco's fondness of Alexa, the owner revealed the two interact for about 40 times a day. Apart from this, the talented talking bird can also mimic a lot of household sounds, including the squeak of the refrigerator door and the microwave beep.

"He can do the ice cream van in the summer, and a truck reversing so loud you think it's in your living room," Wischnewski narrated.
