The dispute Bethesda Softworks made against Behaviour Interactive and Warner Bros. Entertainment over the Westworld mobile game has been settled.

According to the Fallout developer, the lawsuit was resolved "amicably."

'Fallout Shelter' Rip-Off

In a press release, Bethesda said it has reached an agreement with Behaviour Interactive who developed the Westworld game and Warner Bros. Entertainment, which is the publisher of the title.

"Bethesda Softworks and Behaviour Interactive jointly announced today that the parties have amicably resolved the lawsuit Bethesda brought against Behaviour and others related to the Fallout Shelter and Westworld mobile games," the statement reads (via Touch Arcade).

The terms of the resolution weren't revealed. As Polygon points out, there was a notice filed in federal court on Dec. 12 that said that both parties resolved the dispute and that each would shoulder the cost of their own legal fees. Moreover, Bethesda's claims were dismissed with prejudice, which means that it can no longer file another case with the same claims.

While nothing else has been confirmed, it's likely that the matter was resolved with a financial settlement.

Copyrighted Code

In the lawsuit Bethesda filed in a Maryland U.S. District Court back in June, the company alleged that the Westworld game for iOS and Android released in 2018 was a "blatant rip-off" of Fallout Shelter, which was launched in 2015 and developed in collaboration with Behaviour Interactive.

It explained that Westworld had similar "game design, art style, animations, features, and other gameplay elements" present in Fallout Shelter, which Bethesda owns. These can be seen in the gameplay, underground facilities, and 2D cartoon characters set in a 3D environment.

On top of that, there were some bugs in Westworld that were in an earlier version of Fallout Shelter, making a strong case for Bethesda's claim.

However, Warner Bros. Entertainment defended against Bethesda's accusation, saying that Behaviour Interactive said it didn't use any code from Fallout Shelter in developing the mobile game. It even called Bethesda's allegations "untrue" and "baseless" at the time.

At the moment, Westworld is still available on the App Store for iOS devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices.
