Google has updated its Google Clock app to support setting up YouTube Music or Pandora for alarms, a year after the same support was extended to Spotify.

Now, users can pick their favorite song on either YouTube Music or Pandora to jump-start their mornings. Simply download the latest updated version of Google Clock — version 6.1 — and set it up.

This isn't the first time Google Clock has enabled music streaming as an alarm. As mentioned, Spotify was added as an option just last year. But the functionality will still be new to subscribers of Pandora or YouTube Music. That includes Google Play Music users, who get free access to YouTube Music Premium by default as part of their subscription.

Speaking of which, Google is planning to migrate these users to YouTube Music entirely later this year. In any case, Google Clock users now have basically every major option available at their fingertips. Alarm support likely won't extend to Apple Music and Tidal anytime soon. Even still, the Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube Music trifecta probably covers a whole lot already.

How To Set Up Pandora Or YouTube Music As An Alarm In Google Clock

Once the app has been updated, open the Google Clock app, head to the alarm section, tap the sound option underneath any given alarm, then pick the music service of choice. Each service gets its own tab, which gives users the option to select from popular playlists or the entire library. Do note that Pandora and YouTube Music must be installed for the feature to work.

A Word Of Caution

As a side note, music in the morning can be a great way to start the day, but make sure not to set a favorite song as the alarm, since there's a risk of eventually hating it after being forced to wake up to it countless times. Nothing can make one loath a song more than inadvertently associating it with the lethargy of having to wake up in the morning.

Google Clock is available for free on the Play Store.

Do you think waking up to your favorite song is a good idea? Or will you just end up hating it after groggily trying to shut it off as you bumble through the initial morning dread? As always, if you have anything to share, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
